Prof. Catia Ornelas

 

Principal Investigator 

 

 

Cátia Ornelas graduated in Chemistry at University of Madeira (Portugal) and her undergraduate research was carried out under supervision of Prof. João Rodrigues from University of Madeira (Portugal) and Prof. Kari Rissanen from the University of Jyvaskyla (Finland).

She earned her PhD degree in Chemistry (in 2007) at thUniversity of Bordeaux/University of Rennes, France, under the supervision of Prof. Didier Astruc.

After a postdoctoral appointment at the Molecular Design Institute at New York University with Prof. Marcus Weck (2008-2010), she was a postdoctoral fellow at University of California Berkeley, in the group of Prof. Jean M. J. Fréchet (2010-2011). Her last postdoctoral position in the USA was at the Energy Frontier Research Center at Arizona State University in the group of Prof. Ana Moore, Prof. Thomas Moore and Prof. Devens Gust. In 2013, she joinned the faculty at the Institute of Chemistry at University of Campinas, Unicamp (Brazil).

 

She is the author of fifty peer-reviewed papers including seven in Journal of the American Chemical Society, three in Angewandte Chemie and one in Chemical Reviews.

In 2011, she received the prestigious Burgen Award by the Academy of Europe. In 2015, she was was the recipient of a Productivity Award from the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPQ).

Catia Ornelas is the co-founder and Chair of the American Chemical Society Brazilian Chapter.

 

 

Her interests are the development of new nanomaterials for applications in drug delivery, biosensors and catalysis. 

   
 

Tiago B. Becher

 

PhD Student

 

Tiago B. Becher graduated in Chemistry at the Universidade Estadual de Ponta Grossa (Brazil) in 2009. He earned his Master's Degree at the same university in 2013, under the supervision of Prof. Jarem Raul Garcia. Currently, he is a PhD student at the Chemistry Institute at UNICAMP under the supervision of Prof. Cátia Ornelas.

 

His interests are in development of new nanomaterials such as supramolecular nanogels for applications in drug delivery.  

    
   

Diego L. Bertuzzi

 

PhD Student

 

Diego L. Bertuzzi graduated in Chemistry at the Universidade Estadual de Ponta Grossa (Brazil) in 2014. He carried out undergraduate research under the supervision of Prof. Jarem Raul Garcia. Currently, he is a PhD student at the Chemistry Institute at UNICAMP under the supervision of Prof. Cátia Ornelas.

 

His interests are in development of new nanomaterials such as well-defined multifunctional dendrimers for applications in drug delivery and biosensors.  

  

 

 

  

Ana Maria Garzon Porras

 

PhD Student

Miguel D. Ramos Jr.

 

Master Student

 

Miguel D. Ramos Jr. graduated in Chemistry at the University of Campinas (Brazil) in 2016. He carried out undergraduate research under the supervision of Prof. Catia Ornelas. Currently, he is a Master student at the Chemistry Institute at UNICAMP under the supervision of Prof. Cátia Ornelas, with CAPES scholarship.

 

His interests are in development of new multifunctional dendrimers and dendronized gold nanoparticles for applications in drug delivery. 

   
   

Dr. Carolyne B. Braga

 

Postdoctoral Researcher 

 

Carolyne B. Braga graduated in Chemistry at the Universidade Estadual de Ponta Grossa (Brazil) in 2008, and got her PhD in organic Chemistry at the University of Campinas in 2016, under the supervision of Prof. Rittner. Currently, she is a Posdoctoral Researcher  at the Institute of Chemistry at UNICAMP, and actively colaborates with our group in the project related to nanomaterials for Drug Delivery.

 

His interests are in development of new nanomaterials for Drug Delivery.

   

Dr. Denio E. P. Souto

 

Postdoctoral Researcher / Collaborator

 

Denio E. P. Souto graduated in Chemistry at the Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri (UFVJM), Minas Gerais-MG in 2009, and got his Master's degree from the same university in 2012. In 2016, he got his PhD in Analytical Chemistry at the University of Campinas, under the supervision of Prof. Lauro Kubota. Currently, he is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Chemistry Institute at UNICAMP, and colaborates actively with our group in the project related to biosensors.

 

His interests are in development of new SPR and electrochemical biosensors.  

 

 

 

 

Gabriel Perli

José Ricardo P. de Castro
